Samsung has been outsourcing the design and production of some budget phones since 2019. This year, the company plans to increase production by Chinese ODMs and JDMs from 44 million to 67 million units, making up 25% of its 2024 production goal of 270 million units. Additionally, 28 million units will be produced in Vietnam. While this strategy aims to cut costs and lower prices, there is a risk of lower quality in budget devices. Despite this, Samsung’s outsourced phones, like the Galaxy A03s, have seen success, with Samsung being the only Android brand in the top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2022 and 2023.
