Apple Watch got finally rest days

When I had COVID, I was miserable, confined to bed with brain fog and constant coughing. Despite my illness, my Apple Watch notified me to complete my exercise rings, breaking my 85-day streak. Since then, I’ve faced shin splints, migraines, and travel, making it tough to meet exercise goals. I often felt disappointed prioritizing rest over my streak.

Apple’s announcement of rest days in watchOS 11 brought me immense relief. The update includes pausing Activity Rings and adjusting goals based on the day of the week, acknowledging the need for rest in any fitness plan. Now, you can pause rings without affecting your Move streak, recognizing the importance of rest and flexibility. These changes make fitness more manageable and help maintain motivation.

Apple isn’t the first to offer these features, but they are crucial for balancing health and life. Being able to pause during tough times would have helped me stay on track. Some may see it as lacking discipline, but it’s about making fitness adaptable to life, not the other way around. This update is a much-needed step in the right direction.
