Apple is intensifying its efforts to develop augmented reality (AR) glasses, but a launch could be far off. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple aims to create lightweight AR glasses that can be worn all day, though a launch around 2027 is uncertain. This project poses significant technical challenges, needing smaller components than those in current AR headsets. Other companies like Meta, XReal, and Rokid have already released smart glasses with various features, such as built-in displays and multimedia capabilities. Apple’s AR glasses have faced delays before, with previous launch targets in 2023 and 2025 being missed.
