Corning has launched Gorilla Glass 7i, designed for mid-range smartphones, with OPPO set to be the first to use it in upcoming devices. While flagship phones have advanced glass protection, mid-range phones often use older generations like Gorilla Glass 5 or 3. The new 7i aims to provide better durability for these devices. It can withstand drops up to one meter on asphalt-like surfaces and is twice as scratch-resistant as competitors. Although direct comparisons to older Gorilla Glass versions are difficult due to evolving testing methods, Corning claims significant improvements with the 7i.
