Apple was planning to make the iPhone 17 significantly thinner

Apple’s plans to slim down future iPhones using resin-coated copper (RCC) components have been delayed again, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Initially expected in the iPhone 16 and then the iPhone 17, the technology won’t be used in 2025’s iPhone 17 due to durability concerns. It’s unclear if RCC components will be included in the iPhone 18 or if the delay is more long-term. This postponement means users will have to wait longer for potentially slimmer iPhone designs or larger batteries.
