AT&T reportedly gave a hacker $370,000

AT&T paid a hacker about $370,000 in bitcoin to delete stolen customer data, according to a Wired report. Negotiations were conducted through an intermediary named Reddington, who helped lower the initial demand from $1 million. The hacker, part of the ShinyHunters group, provided a video as proof of deletion. Reddington believes the complete data copy was deleted, though fragments might still exist. This breach also affected other companies, including Ticketmaster and Santander Bank, through compromised login credentials from Snowflake.
