Google Pixel 9 will get ultrasonic fingerprint reader

Google Pixels have had various issues over the years, such as outdated camera sensors and slow charging. The upcoming Pixel 9 series aims to fix one persistent problem: the slow and unreliable under-display fingerprint sensor. Android Authority reports that Google will switch to an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, specifically Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic Gen 2, improving speed and reliability compared to the optical scanners used since the Pixel 6. This change is expected to enhance the user experience significantly. The Pixel 9 series, launching on August 13, will feature this new scanner, except for the Fold variant, which retains a power button scanner.
