California is testing support for digital driver’s licenses and ID cards in Google Wallet for Android users. This feature, previously available on Apple Wallet, will allow users to add their ID card directly within the Google Wallet app. The setup involves selecting “ID Card” and following the instructions. These digital IDs can be used at select TSA terminals but users are still advised to carry their physical IDs. Currently, this feature is in beta testing with DMV employees and is not yet public. Other states with similar support include Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, and Maryland, with Ohio potentially next.
