South Korean tech companies, including LG and Samsung, are expanding into the growing educational technology (edtech) markets. LG has implemented “future classrooms” in 18 South Korean schools featuring AI-equipped CLOi robots and digital whiteboards. This aligns with South Korea’s rollout of AI-powered digital textbooks for 5 million students starting in March 2025, aimed at customizing learning content based on student proficiency.
Samsung introduced a new AI-equipped display for schools in June, enhancing classroom interactivity. Other companies like Naver and Kakao are developing educational and communication apps. The global edtech market is projected to grow from $404 billion in 2025 to $800 billion in 2030, presenting significant opportunities.
LG plans to expand its future classrooms to Japan in 2024 and has already sold digital whiteboards to 2,900 schools in India. Naver has partnered with Mongolia to provide its educational platform to 725 schools. As competition intensifies with global tech giants entering the space, South Korean companies are leveraging their domestic innovations for international markets.
