Meta has reportedly shelved its premium mixed-reality headset, codenamed “La Jolla,” due to high costs, making it impossible to hit the $1,000 target price. The decision followed a product review meeting with CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Instead, Meta is shifting focus to licensing its XR software platform, Horizon OS. Despite this, the company plans to unveil new AR glasses, codenamed “Orion,” at its upcoming Connect developer conference and is working on a Quest 3 successor for 2026.
