Apple highlighted AI during its iPhone 16 event, but its generative “Apple Intelligence” features won’t be available with iOS 18’s release on September 16th or with the new iPhones on September 20th. These AI features will begin rolling out next month, initially as a beta test in US English for iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, and M1+ Macs and iPads. Features include writing tools like text rewriting, proofreading, and summarization, as well as photo cleanup, transcription, and smart replies. Advanced capabilities like Visual Intelligence, custom emoji creation, and OpenAI integration with Siri are expected later.
