With iOS 18, Apple has added support for RCS (Rich Communication Services), improving texting between iPhone and Android users. Now, chats feature high-resolution media, typing indicators, and read receipts, making iPhone-to-Android messaging more reliable. However, some carriers may not support RCS yet, and Apple’s RCS lacks end-to-end encryption. While it enhances messaging basics, iMessage features like animated text and message scheduling are still missing in RCS conversations. Apple supports only the basic RCS standard, but future updates may bring cross-platform encryption.
