An official OpenAI account on X (@OpenAINewsroom) was hacked on Monday evening to promote a fake cryptocurrency scam. The account, which has nearly 54,000 followers, posted about an “$OPENAI” token, claiming it would grant access to future beta programs. The post included a link to a spoofed version of OpenAI’s website. Visitors were asked to connect their cryptocurrency wallets to claim the token. OpenAI and X have yet to comment, and the post has since been deleted.
