OpenAI’s CTO Mira Murati is leaving the company to explore new opportunities, focusing first on a smooth transition. Alongside her, Chief Research Officer Bob McGrew and VP of Post Training Barret Zoph are also departing. CEO Sam Altman confirmed the decisions were independent and amicable. Murati played a key role in launching ChatGPT and DALL-E and was temporarily OpenAI’s leader during last year’s boardroom coup. The departures come just before OpenAI’s annual Dev Day, as the company transitions to new leadership roles for its research and mission alignment teams.
