Samsung and LG are reportedly developing new OLED screens with built-in piezoelectric speakers that emit sound by vibrating the display. This technology aims to address a current issue with Galaxy Z Flip phones, which can only take calls using the loudspeaker when folded. By integrating this speaker into the cover screen, users could take calls on a folded device without blocking the microphone. While similar technology has been used before in devices like the Xiaomi Mi Mix and vivo Nex, it was previously criticized for low volume. Hopefully, Samsung and LG’s version will deliver better performance.
