Zoom is introducing AI avatars that can attend meetings and send video messages for you. To create one, you’ll record a video that the AI uses to generate an avatar that looks and sounds like you. The feature, part of Zoom’s AI Companion add-on costing $12/month, will roll out next year and work with Zoom’s Clips feature.
For users without the add-on, preset avatars and voices will be available. Zoom is implementing safeguards like watermarking to prevent misuse. CEO Eric Yuan envisions AI “digital twins” that could handle meetings and emails while you focus on other tasks.
