Apple is introducing AI-powered image editing with the release of Apple Intelligence, focusing on preserving photo authenticity. The new “Clean Up” feature in iOS 18.1 allows users to remove objects or people from images but stops short of adding AI-generated content like competitors Google and Samsung. Apple’s software chief, Craig Federighi, emphasized the company’s commitment to accuracy in photos, aiming to prevent AI from distorting reality. Edited photos will be tagged with “Modified with Clean Up” to ensure transparency, aligning with broader industry efforts to maintain trust in photography.
