iPhone 16 battery can be removed with electric shock

Apple made battery replacements easier on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus by using a new adhesive that responds to electric shocks. Users can eject the battery by applying up to 30V at specific points. To assist with this, iFixit released an $11 tool called VoltClip, which includes a 12V DC adapter and alligator clips, though a separate USB-C PD power source is needed.

Once the adhesive is shocked, the battery detaches safely. While the Pro models don’t have this feature yet, it may be introduced in all iPhone 17 models next year.
