Starting next year, Samsung smartphones will support tap-to-unlock and hands-free unlocking for smart locks using NFC and UWB, similar to iPhones. The new Aliro smart lock standard will be integrated into Samsung Wallet’s Digital Home Key, allowing local unlocking without an internet connection.
However, hands-free unlocking via UWB will only work on select Samsung models, like foldables and Galaxy S+ and Ultra variants. The Aliro standard, developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance, is set to launch alongside compatible smart locks in 2025.
