Apple facing first-ever EU fine over App Store rules

Apple is set to be the first company fined for violating the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) due to its App Store “anti-steering” practices that restrict competition, Bloomberg reports. Following a €1.84 billion fine in March, the EU Commission may impose an additional fine this month, potentially up to $38 billion based on Apple’s revenue. Apple also faces an investigation into whether it’s blocking alternative app stores and recently lost a €13 billion tax dispute in the EU.
