Google is enhancing its malware detection with new live threat detection for Android’s Play Protect. This feature monitors app behavior in real time, alerting users to potential threats even after apps are installed. Currently available on Pixel 6 and newer devices, it will expand to other Android brands like Lenovo, OnePlus and Oppo in the coming months.
Additionally, Google is launching scam call detection, which uses on-device AI to flag suspicious calls. Initially available to beta users on Pixel 6 and newer, it will roll out to more devices in the future. Both features prioritize user privacy by processing data on-device.
