Apple plans to support standard VR game controllers on the Vision Pro, with efforts underway to integrate Sony’s PlayStation VR2 controllers. Collaboration with Sony began earlier this year, and while initial plans to announce the feature were delayed, its introduction is still expected unless canceled.
Apple is also developing third-party controller support for visionOS and has prototyped a “wand” device for precise control. Currently, Vision Pro supports traditional gaming controllers but lacks compatibility with dedicated VR controllers, limiting its appeal for VR gaming.
With fewer than 500,000 Vision Pro units sold and underwhelming user engagement, Apple hopes enhanced VR gaming support will boost sales. Despite challenges, the company remains committed to the Vision Pro product line.
