Global shipments of wrist-worn devices reached 139 million units in the first three quarters of 2024, down 1% from last year. HUAWEI overtook Apple with 23.6 million shipments, a 44.3% increase, thanks to new models like the Watch GT 5 and strong regional strategies. Apple remains the leader in smartwatch shipments but lacks a presence in the fitness band market, limiting its overall growth. Samsung’s diverse pricing strategy boosted its shipments by 24.3%, while Xiaomi and BBK saw significant growth in affordable wearables. China led global growth with a 20.1% increase, offsetting slowdowns in other regions. Despite the slight dip, competition and innovation are expected to drive the market forward.
