Motorola phones face US market ban

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled that Lenovo-owned Motorola violated Ericsson’s 5G patents, potentially leading to a ban on importing Motorola phones into the US if upheld. The case, involving alleged patent infringement by Moto G, Edge and Razr phones, is set for a final decision in April 2025.

Motorola, holding a 14% share of the US smartphone market, faces significant risks from a possible ban. While similar disputes have led to bans in Brazil and Colombia, a settlement between Ericsson and Lenovo remains a possibility before any ban takes full effect.
