ChatGPT can now handle reminders and to-dos

OpenAI has introduced a beta feature called Tasks in ChatGPT for Plus, Team and Pro subscribers. This feature allows users to schedule actions and reminders, transforming ChatGPT into a digital assistant similar to Google Assistant or Siri but with advanced language capabilities.

Users can set up one-time or recurring tasks, such as daily weather updates or reminders, by selecting “4o with scheduled tasks” in the model picker. Tasks can be managed via chat threads or a dedicated Tasks section on the web, with notifications sent across devices upon completion. Subscribers are limited to 10 active tasks at a time.

Tasks represents a shift for ChatGPT, expanding its functionality beyond real-time responses to future planning and automation. OpenAI is also reportedly working on advanced features, such as an autonomous AI agent (“Operator”) and potential integration with tools for more complex tasks.

Currently available only to paying users, Tasks remains in beta, with OpenAI seeking feedback to address reliability challenges before wider release.
