Google’s new Identity Check keeps your phone digital accounts safe

Google has launched Identity Check, a new Android security feature for Pixel devices running Android 15. It requires biometric authentication to access sensitive settings—such as changing PINs, disabling theft protection or turning off Find My Device – when outside trusted locations.

The feature aims to prevent phone thieves from accessing private data and is similar to Apple’s Stolen Device Protection. Initially introduced in beta during the December Pixel Drop, Identity Check will roll out to Samsung Galaxy devices with One UI 7 and other manufacturers later this year.
