Indonesia’s iPhone 16 ban remains in effect, with the government demanding Apple establish a local manufacturing hub to meet its Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification. This law requires 40% local content, achieved through local manufacturing, software development or R&D centers.
Although Apple has committed to a $1 billion investment and plans to build an AirTag manufacturing facility on Batam Island, this isn’t enough to lift the ban. Negotiations between Apple and Indonesian authorities are ongoing.
