Amazon will end Android support for its Appstore on August 20th, though it will remain available on Fire TV and Tablets. Apps downloaded before the shutdown may still work but won’t receive updates. This follows Microsoft’s decision to drop Appstore support on Windows in March. Amazon is also discontinuing its Amazon Coins program, stopping new purchases on February 20th, 2025, with refunds for unused coins after August 20th. The Appstore struggled to compete with Google Play, despite past efforts like free apps and sideloading workarounds.
