Apple is renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in its Maps app, rolling out first to US users and soon globally. Google Maps made the same change earlier this week but displays different names based on location.
The renaming follows a January executive order by Donald Trump, which was added to the federal naming database. Other mapping services like Bing and MapQuest still use the original name. Apple has not yet commented on the change.
