Apple has reportedly canceled its Mac-powered AR glasses due to performance issues and lack of clear direction. Initially designed to work with an iPhone but later shifted to Mac for processing, the glasses featured built-in displays for projecting information but lacked Vision Pro’s eye projection feature. Executives were unimpressed during testing, leading to the project’s cancellation. Despite this, Apple remains committed to developing AR glasses and successors to the Vision Pro. Meanwhile, Google is working on Android XR-powered smart glasses, built on Project Astra, with processing handled by a smartphone.
