OpenAI has introduced “Deep Research” in ChatGPT, a tool designed for in-depth topic exploration. Similar to Google Gemini’s feature, it accelerates research, producing analyst-level reports in minutes instead of hours. It gathers, analyzes and synthesizes data from online sources, aiding tasks like report writing and personalized shopping recommendations. Powered by the upcoming OpenAI o3 model, it processes text, images and PDFs while providing citations and summaries. Currently available for ChatGPT Pro users, it will expand to Plus and Team users. The tool runs in 5–30 minutes, with future updates adding images, visualizations, and analytics.
