Apple is developing a tabletop robot with expressive movements, as revealed in a research paper and video. The prototype, resembling a robotic desk lamp, features an LED light, camera, speaker and projector, responding to gestures and voice commands with Siri-like interactions. Unlike a standard functional version, the “Expressive” model shows personality – dancing, reacting to weather and assisting with tasks. Reports suggest Apple is working on smart home devices, including a robotic assistant expected by 2026-2027, possibly priced around $1,000.
