Apple considered making the iPhone 17 Air its first “port-free” iPhone

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature ProMotion and Camera Control from the iPhone 16 Pro, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. It will be ultra-thin at 5.5mm, with a 6.6-inch display and a $900 price tag, replacing the iPhone 16 Plus. However, it will have a single rear camera and no second speaker. Despite its thin design, Apple has optimized battery life by redesigning display, silicon and software components. The device will also include Apple’s C1 5G modem but won’t support mmWave. Apple considered a port-free design but ultimately decided against it.
