Apple TV Plus is losing more than $1 billion every year

Apple TV Plus is losing over $1 billion annually despite reaching 45 million subscribers in 2024, making it Apple’s only unprofitable subscription. In response, Apple cut its $5 billion content budget by $500 million. Despite hit shows like Severance, Apple TV Plus holds less than 1% of monthly streaming viewership. The service is mainly seen as a way to keep users in the Apple ecosystem. Other Apple services, including News Plus, Fitness Plus and Arcade, also struggle with low usage and profits, relying on Apple One bundles to stay viable.
