Google’s parent company has announced its largest-ever acquisition

Alphabet has announced its largest-ever acquisition, buying cybersecurity firm Wiz for Google Cloud after a failed $23 billion bid last year. The Israeli-founded company, valued at $16 billion, provides cloud security solutions for major firms like Microsoft and Amazon.

If approved, the deal will surpass Google’s $12.5 billion Motorola purchase in 2012. Wiz will remain a multicloud platform, easing antitrust concerns as Google faces ongoing scrutiny. This move follows Google’s past cybersecurity acquisitions, including Mandiant and Siemplify, as it strengthens its cloud security offerings against Microsoft’s weaker reputation in the space.
