Apple enables smart home apps to cut your electricity bills

Apple’s new EnergyKit framework helps smart home app developers reduce electricity costs by optimizing energy use. Initially supporting thermostats and EV chargers, EnergyKit allows apps to adjust device behavior based on real-time electricity rates and usage data. For example, an EV could charge during off-peak hours, or an AC system could ease cooling when rates are high. While limited for now, this marks a major step toward automated whole-home energy efficiency.
