Google’s Pixel Watch 3 supports a new Bluetooth 6.0 feature called Channel Sounding, introduced with Wear OS 5.1, which enables more accurate device tracking using existing Bluetooth hardware. Unlike traditional methods relying on signal strength, Channel Sounding measures signal timing for centimeter-level accuracy and direction. However, the feature isn’t active yet, as it requires other devices with Bluetooth 6.0 support. Unlike UWB, this method avoids extra hardware costs, making precise tracking more accessible once broader support rolls out.
