Ruoming Pang, former head of Apple’s AI models team, has joined Meta’s Superintelligence Labs with a compensation package worth over $200 million – one of the largest in the AI talent wars. The deal includes salary, a signing bonus, and a large stock grant. Apple reportedly didn’t try to match the offer. Pang’s move may signal more departures, as other Apple AI engineers are also considering exits. Zhifeng Chen has now taken over leadership of Apple’s foundation models team.
