Microsoft is laying off 9,000 employees

Microsoft is laying off up to 9,100 employees — around 4% of its workforce — in its latest round of cuts. The Xbox division is heavily affected, with layoffs hitting studios like King, ZeniMax, and Turn 10, and the cancellation of games like Perfect Dark and Everwild. The Initiative, the studio behind Perfect Dark, is also shutting down. These cuts follow multiple previous rounds of layoffs this year, including 6,000 jobs in May and 1,900 in January. Xbox head Phil Spencer said the cuts aim to streamline operations and focus on strategic growth areas.
