A sale deal for TikTok’s U.S. operations is reportedly nearing completion to comply with the divest-or-ban law. The new agreement, involving non-Chinese investors like Oracle and a minority stake retained by ByteDance, still needs Chinese government approval. A new version of the app, internally called “M2,” is planned for release on September 5. The original TikTok app would be removed from app stores then and shut down entirely by March 2026.
