Google claims its Gemini AI uses very little energy and water per prompt — about 0.26ml of water and 0.24Wh of power (equal to nine seconds of TV time), producing just 0.03g of CO₂.
While efficiency improvements partly explain the low numbers, experts argue the study is misleading, as Google omitted key data on the broader environmental impact of its AI data centers.
