Amazon has agreed to a $2.5 billion settlement over claims it made Prime signups too easy and cancellations too difficult. The deal includes $1B in penalties and $1.5B in customer refunds, averaging up to $51 each for eligible users.
Anyone who enrolled in Prime in the US between June 23, 2019 – June 23, 2025 may qualify, with refunds issued automatically or via a claims form depending on usage. The FTC calls it one of its largest settlements ever.
The news comes just weeks before Prime Big Deal Days (Oct 7–8), as Amazon pushes new signups.
