Nothing has revealed more details about Nothing OS 4.0, its Android 16-based update, ahead of its upcoming closed beta. The update brings a refreshed UI with standardized elements, cleaner quick settings, new lock screen fonts, an Extra Dark mode, floating app icons and improved Always On Display and brightness sliders.
Camera and Gallery apps get redesigned interfaces, new presets and possible AI-powered features. A new AI dashboard will show when LLM tasks run, and voice features in Essential Space may use OpenAI’s Whisper model. Nothing may introduce a paid tier for unlimited Essential Space usage (rumored at $120/year).
Closed betas will roll out soon for eligible devices — but not the Nothing Phone (1), which has reached end-of-life.
