Nvidia is investing $5B in Intel, buying common stock and partnering to co-develop multiple generations of custom data center and PC products. The collaboration will create x86 SoCs combining Intel CPUs with Nvidia RTX GPU chiplets, aiming to power a wide range of PCs and strengthen competition against AMD.
The deal also involves connecting Intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs via NVLink for AI infrastructure platforms. This move follows recent $8.9B and $2B investments in Intel from the US government and SoftBank. Intel’s stock surged 28% in pre-market trading after the news.
