OpenAI has announced a strategic partnership with Nvidia to massively expand its compute power and funding. The deal will see OpenAI build at least 10GW of AI datacenters using Nvidia systems — equating to millions of GPUs — with Nvidia planning to invest up to $100B as capacity scales.
Nvidia becomes OpenAI’s preferred compute and networking partner, supporting its push toward superintelligence. The move follows OpenAI’s shift away from relying solely on Microsoft, with new infrastructure deals including Oracle.
CEO Sam Altman called compute “the basis for the economy of the future,” as ChatGPT now counts 700M weekly active users.
