Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, expected in 2026, could be slightly cheaper to produce than expected thanks to a more efficient hinge design. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports the hinge will cost $70–$80 per unit, down from earlier estimates of $100–$120, due to assembly design optimizations, not lower-quality materials. Foxconn and a partner firm will produce most hinges, with Amphenol handling the rest. While still expected to be Apple’s most expensive iPhone (likely around $2,000–$2,500), the cost savings may help improve margins or reduce the final price.
