Some iPhone 17 Pro owners have noticed their Cosmic Orange models fading to a pinkish rose-gold tone, but experts say it’s not a widespread issue.
The discoloration appears to be caused by hydrogen peroxide–based cleaners, which can damage the anodized aluminum coating on the phone’s frame. This chemical reaction can lead to fading or etching around the edges and camera area.
Apple warns users to avoid cleaning products with bleach or hydrogen peroxide and instead use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth with water to safely clean their devices.
