Developers can now offer cheaper deals directly to users in US Play Store

Starting October 29, 2025, Android users in the US will see a more open Google Play Store following a court order in Google’s legal battle with Epic Games.

Developers can now promote, link to and process payments for apps or subscriptions outside Google Play, offering users potential cheaper deals and more payment options like PayPal or direct credit cards.

The injunction, valid until November 1, 2027, forces Google to relax its long-standing rules restricting external payment links. Google says it will maintain its SAFE principles for user trust and safety, with further updates to come.
