Google is testing a new “lock mic” feature for Gemini, allowing users to speak uninterrupted during voice chats without needing Gemini Live. Found in version 16.42.61 of the Google app, the option lets you long-press the mic icon to keep it active until you tap stop — ideal for longer or thoughtful requests.
The update also includes minor UI tweaks, such as a resizable floating input box and a movable button to minimize or maximize the Gemini Live overlay. These features are still experimental and may not roll out widely yet.
