Nearly 30 years after Clippy, Microsoft is reviving the idea of a friendly digital assistant with Mico, a new animated character for Copilot’s voice mode. Mico reacts in real time with facial expressions and emotions, creating a more natural conversational experience.
Launching first in the US, Mico uses Copilot’s new memory feature to recall user details and includes a Learn Live mode that teaches concepts interactively, like a Socratic tutor.
Microsoft says Mico gives Copilot a lasting “identity” and is part of its push to make talking to computers feel natural. And yes — there’s even a hidden Clippy-themed Easter egg for nostalgic fans.
